Hello every one! I have decided to write a few blogs to track my time line and outline my business plan for all to see. It is more of a way to hold myself accountable and stay on track to be up and running as a licensed home inspect as of January 1, 2020.
Today I completed my 2nd of 4 modules required for my training. Roughly that means I have put in 50 hours of class time Monday’s and Wednesday’s. I have also completed 5 of my 10 required mock inspections. I feel quite lucky that I signed up for the course when I did. If not for the whole COVID pandemic I would be driving back and forth to Buffalo on those days I have class. Instead we are meeting online via Zoom.
As far as my business structure is concerned, I have made extensive head way. I have officially formed my LLC and now have my EIN. Business cards have been delivered and I plan on introducing myself to local realtors in the near future. Insurance has been quoted out and I have the intention to opt to get Error’s and Omissions insurance in addition to the obligatory General Liability that will be mandated by New York State. This website is also a big undertaking. I feel like I am only about half way done with it and the big content has yet to be input. It is my goal to have the web site up and running by Nov 1, 2020.
I have sent in my application form to take the NYS Home Inspector’s exam on October 27, 2020. It is my hope that I will be able to pass the exam early (post course study completion). If that happens I should be able to ” be in business” at least a month sooner. This will allow me to fill for my license upon immediate completion of the course study as well as the 10 completed mock inspections which is the equivalent of 40 hours of infield unpaid training.
Keeping this short and sweet as it is just past midnight!
If you are reading this, just know I appreciate you reading and visiting the site!
