InterNACHI Certified Professional Inspector (CPI)

I am very excited to announce that I have completed the requirements set forth by InterNACHI to become a Certified Professional Inspector. This is my first step to being able to become licensed in the state of Pennsylvania as a home inspector.

InterNACHI Certified Professional Inspector

What is InterNACHI

InterNACHI® is the world’s leading association for home inspectors. They provide free training, online testing and certification, business development, marketing support, and more. Their focus is helping home inspector be successful and stay successful. With a large base of members to learn from one another this association is by far the most popular among home inspectors all over the US. With a membership of over 29,000 inspectors all trusting in InterNACHI’s expertise, home buyers can rest assured knowing that an Inspector that is certified with InterNACHI, they are held to the highest of standards.

Education

In addition to the 140 hours required by New York State for licensing, I took additional 62 hours of education with InterNACHI. Much of the training taken went above and beyond the Standards of Practice required by NYS and even InterNACHI. So why does an inspector need to more than what is required of him/her? The answer is simple, it is not only important to know that a roof is on the house. It is vital to know and understand just how a roof work and what its purpose is. Believe it or not, just stopping rain from entering your home is not the only reason you have a roof. There is an entire science to homes. A science that, in my opinion, a home inspector should be an expert in. Not just a “generalist”, even though that is the definition of what is required of home inspectors.

What it All Means

The meaning behind all of this for me is the evolution of my business. I am looking to grow not only in my knowledge of homes but also the growth of my business. With the close proximity to the Pennsylvania border, it is almost a natural growth potential. Combine that with numerous requests of realtors from the Pennsylvania area. What is required to become licensed in PA is the following:

  • Become a full member of a national home inspection association.
  • Pass an accredited Inspector Exam.
  • Comply with the Code of Ethics and Home Inspection Standards of Practice of the association.
  • Take continuing education courses set forth by the association
  • Maintain GL and E&O insurance.
  • Provide a list of 100 addresses of inspections you’ve “performed or participated in.

I have completed all prerequisites, with the exception of the 100 inspections. I am just a few shy. So give me a call, have your home inspected by the best inspector this area has!
